Civil Site Engineer - Brisbane

Bornhorst + Ward is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Site Engineer to join our dynamic Brisbane team. This is a hands-on role suited to a driven professional who thrives both on site and in the detail of contract administration, and who can confidently work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

With a strong pipeline of civil projects, we are looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and commercial awareness to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

About the Role

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from site coordination and technical delivery through to contract management and client liaison. Our projects include:

  • Bulk earthworks

  • Road construction

  • Carparks and hardstand areas

  • Residential subdivisions

  • Commercial developments

  • Underground infrastructure services including stormwater, sewer and water reticulation

Key Responsibilities

Site Engineering & Project Delivery

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day site activities

  • Monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with drawings and specifications

  • Review and interpret engineering designs and resolve technical issues on site

  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and local authorities

  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with safety and environmental standards

  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior staff

Contracts Administration

  • Administer contracts in accordance with AS4000 and AS2124

  • Prepare, review, and manage progress claims, variations, extensions of time, and payment schedules

  • Assist with procurement and subcontract management

  • Monitor project budgets and cost control measures

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting

  • Support risk management and contractual compliance across projects

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil construction and site works

  • Demonstrated experience in contract administration within civil projects

  • Strong understanding of civil design principles and construction practices

  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to manage and support a project team

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Civil Engineering degree or Civil Engineering qualification (TAFE or equivalent)

  • RPEQ registration

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • White Card (Construction Induction)
