We are looking for grounded young professionals with the ability to learn and work in both internal and external teams. A mentor is assigned to each graduate engineer. This senior engineer will provide guidance to the graduate during the first few years of employment at Bornhorst + Ward.

Effort is made to ensure young engineers receive a broad range of design experience in the first years of learning. We implement a highly respected and thorough training program and are happy to assign responsibility to those who are ready and willing.

Our graduate positions are often filled by students who have undertaken  work experience at Bornhorst + Ward. The work experience application process starts with a site visit and office BBQ in the first half of every year. This is a great opportunity for you to meet us, and us to meet you!

Civil Engineer - Full Time Position

At Bornhorst + Ward we are seeking a Civil Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience to join our Civil Department on a full time basis.

The ideal applicant should have a minimum 3 years' experience in civil works including:

  • Subdivisions
  • Commercial developments
  • Main Roads Design
  • Property Development
  • Commercial / Retail Projects (desired but not essential)
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Roadways
  • Carparks and Hardstand areas
  • Underground infrastructure services including stormwater, sewer and water reticulations.

Applicants must demonstrate a proficiency in:

  • Having strong design software knowledge
  • Microsoft office
  • Having strong verbal and written communication
  • Understanding of design principals
  • Understanding of civil construction practices.

All candidates must demonstrate an ability to work with and manage a design team, liaise with clients and local authorities and provide mentor assistance to junior staff. The candidate must also demonstrate a history of civil site works.

The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background including a civil engineering degree.  The candidate should have their RPEQ or be eligible to qualify for RPEQ status.

Civil Designer - Full Time Position

At Bornhorst + Ward we are seeking a Civil Designer to join our team on a full time basis. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 4-6 years' experience in civil works including:

  • Subdivisions
  • Property Development
  • Commercial / Retail Projects (desired but not essential)
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Roadways
  • Carparks and Hardstand areas
  • Commercial developments
  • Underground infrastructure services including stormwater, sewer and water reticulations.

Applicants must demonstrate a proficiency in:

  • 12D modelling (Essential)
  • Autocad
  • Microsoft office
  • Have strong verbal and written communication
  • Understanding of design principals
  • Understanding of civil construction practices.

All candidates must demonstrate an ability to work with and manage a design team, liaise with clients and local authorities and provide mentor assistance to junior staff. The candidate must also demonstrate a strong engineering background.

Entry Level - Structural & Civil Drafting Cadet-ships 2019

Our dedicated cadet program has been operating for over 40 years and through our commitment to training young staff we have developed a reputation for producing industry leaders. As a result, we are again looking to employ school leavers or persons currently studying engineering at TAFE, to begin full time employment as a Cadet Drafter.

Successful applicants will be trained in the use of the latest 3D computer aided design software and develop technical skills in producing engineering drawings for Civil & Structural engineering projects.

All Cadets are encouraged to undertake part time study in the Associate Degree in Civil Engineering to further their personal development.
