Brisbane’s first integrated cycle track at Northshore Hamilton.

Northshore Hamilton is Brisbane’s largest urban renewal precinct, delivering an enhanced safe and healthy lifestyle for the community and future generations.
A $26 million upgrade of the streets of Northshore Hamilton now include more than 14kms of integrated cycle track built alongside Remora Rd, Macarthur Ave and Hercules Street. This is Brisbane’s first integrated cycle track and has made Northshore Hamilton an enviable destination for cyclists and has set a new benchmark for future road and cycle projects. With a beautiful tree lined boulevard providing shade, the cycle track has provided a much safer riding space for cyclists and has allowed for better traffic flow as it’s completely separate from the vehicle lanes. The Northshore cycle track will link cyclists with key destinations such as Portside, the new planned Riverwalk, stunning residential developments and the Kingsford Smith Drive cycle way.

Bornhorst and Ward’s involvement included approx. 1600m wide separated cycle track, commencement of safe cycle infrastructure within the Northshore Hamilton PDA, the Remora Rd/ Macarthur Ave/ Hercules St/ Wharf Cl and Finnegan St intersections are the first two intersections in Brisbane with protected cyclist treatment. The project was carried out by BMD Constructions.

The infrastructure improvements surrounding Northshore Hamilton include road widening, resurfacing, new pedestrian footpaths and cycle tracks, additional bus stops, landscaping and new energy efficient LED street lighting to enhance the safety and security of the area.
