Congratulations to the Bornhorst + Ward team for their great effort with collaboration and innovation on Brookfield Residential Properties Link Portside Wharf project which has been recognised through winning the Consultant’s Excellence category at the UDIA (Qld) Awards for Excellence.
Link Portside Wharf is a residential building that responded to a unique set of site constraints and utilised an innovative structural steel design to deliver a four storey residential building above an existing basement carpark without demolishing or significantly altering the existing structure.
The development of the structural solution by Bornhorst & Ward on Link allowed Brookfield to develop a site with significant constraints and to add value to the existing Portside Wharf precinct. Without the innovative solution proposed, the project would have been limited to two stories, weakening the investment case for proceeding with the development. The innovative structural solution by Bornhorst & Ward allowed the scale of the project to be increased to four stories, doubling the residential yield and strengthening the investment case.
Link is located in the heart of Brookfield’s $1.3 billion mixed use community, Portside Wharf; a residential and retail precinct located on the Brisbane River at Hamilton, within five kilometres of the CBD. It is also home to the Brisbane Cruise Terminal, a purpose built facility that is the first of its kind in Queensland.
